The Estate was purchased in 1949 by the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain to provide care to Ukrainian combatants wounded during the Second World War.  Whilst still owned by the Association, it now provides residential care for older people of all cultures.  We are proud of our heritage which has shaped and moulded Sydenhurst’s diversity.

We offer a friendly, welcoming environment which is committed wholeheartedly to putting our residents first.  Our philosophy is one of respect for each individual – their dignity, beliefs and independence.  And to live life, to have fun.

It is an environment in which excellent care, support and encouragement help each individual to achieve their personal best quality of life within the limits of their mental or physical health.  Staff form a close-knit team whose expertise, commitment and enthusiasm help residents to maintain their interests for as long as possible.

At Sydenhurst we recognise that both the individual and the family need to be supported.  Each resident has a Key Worker to provide a single point of contact for families and residents, to respond quickly to any special requests or to simply be there to talk things through.
